Eyes Wide Open          by Laura Brittain Remember to keep your eyes wide open. It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see. Around the next corner could be something amazing. Everyday places you've been before can still surprise you if you.  Remember to keep your eyes wide open and not shut. Open to new possibilities, both visible and invisible. Everyday things can make impossible into I'm possible. You don't always have to be able to see it to dream it. Dream BIG, do, go, be, ArtsyBE.

Drive up Rt 30 North No matter what season I love to drive up Rt. 30 North through the Adirondack Mountains . I love living so close that it can be a short or a long ride depending on what I'm in the mood for. This year I picked the perfect day to go for a ride.  Last Thursday I took my parents for a ride up north to see the leaves.  We stoped along the side of the road just north of Speculator to take some pictures.  We drove as far as Long Lake and stoped in Hoss's , a favorite family stop. I also found the Long Lake Boat Launch and look forward to launching my kayak there next year. For lunch we went to the Blue Mountain Diner , it was my fathers birthday. Cascade Lakes

I checked something off my fall BE List, even though it wasn't what I thought it would be it was worth it.  Doing things on my BE List make me feel empowered.  I love going kayaking far away, where the WiFi is week and the I can’t be reached.  Where I shouldn’t hear any man made sounds but only the sounds of natur. That wasn’t true of Upper Cascade Lake  on Rt. 73 in Keene Valley.  I have driven past hear through Keene Valley many times.  The Cascade Lakes looked so inviting in the valley of the mountains.  It became a family joke when we drive past a cool looking lake, my daughter would say, "looks like a good paddle."  I waited for fall thinking that the colorful trees would make it every more magical. I am sad to say that after a two hour drive to get there, every mile closer my excitement was building, the paddle was a let down. When I go kayaking I don’t want to be able to hear the cars rushing by. I want to hear the rustle of the leaves as the wind blows through t
